Graduation tassels
Graduation tassels hang down from a button at the center of the graduation cap. They are made up of silk threads which are allowed to hang freely over the side of the graduation cap. The strands can also be plaited thus forming a cord whose ends are left untied. The graduation tassels are usually black or colored according to the field of study. In some graduation ceremonies, the graduation tassels are worn on the same side by all the graduates. In other schools, the tassel is first worn on the right side and then flipped to the left side upon receipt of the degree or diploma.
